Music I’m Listening to
I’m so glad that I stumbled upon the album by Gramatik – Orchestrated Incident on the Street Bangers Vol 2. Whenever I need to focus on a task or need a boost of motivation I play these songs. Take a listen to my need to focus playlist. The playlist has this song yes twice along with eight others. Go get focused.
Book of the Month
Books are one area that you will find I don’t stick to one genre and this month was Science Fiction. I picked up this book at the airport on the recommendation of my son. I think he really wanted to read it but didn’t want to ask us to purchase it for him. I picked up two books but the one I read was Artemis by Andy Weir. It was a page turner as I finished it in two days. I can’t wait to see them turn this Feminine hero who just wants to be a criminal into a sci-fi action movie based on the Moon. Without giving too much away, she is smart, cunning, quick-witted and her name is Jasmine (like mine). She saves everyone, makes a lot of money, loses it and now I am waiting for the next book to see what happens, and what trouble she gets into with all the new people who will be moving to the moon.
Class I took Recently
I just finished a 7-week photography class called Explore Chicago at the Richard Stromberg Chicago Photography school. This class took us to a new location each week to photograph different types of scenes, people, and landscapes that helped us to stretch and learn more about photography and our camera. Some of the locations they took us to I had never been even though I have lived here in Chicago forever. I really enjoyed discovering the city and learning about long exposure and light painting. I always say get out and try something new.
Smells I am Enjoying
PF Candle Co. Reed Diffuser. I love the story of how this company started in a bedroom to where it is now. They have kept production in the US out in California. My mood is set each day at work with No. 21 Golden Coast.
I am looking forward to trying out the next new smell from PF when I need to replace my diffuser. 
What’s been Entertaining
This was a hard choice this month with all the festivals, concerts, the air and water show but I am going to pick the play I saw at the Writers Theatre in Glencoe, called VietGone. I’m not a critic in any stretch of the imagination but this play I liked because it used rap music. It was more of a love story than about the war. It was entertaining and different. If you are in the Chicago area or if this play comes your way go check it out.
What I’m Pondering
Let me start by saying if there is someone who wrote this please let me know so I can give credit where it is due. What I am thinking about this month is failure and what that really means. When I think about failure it is not a bad thing it is a learning opportunity, so you are always winning even if you fail at something. As you take that failure, you analyze it and learn and grow from it. So as long as you are doing that, failure is not an option, it is a growing opportunity and you are winning!! Fly the WL! Because you are either Winning or Learning!
